Our Approach

We work one on one with each of our clients to understand their unique needs, identify the questions they should to be asking, and help them to determine their goals. Then, utilizing a wide range of tools, we develop innovative strategies, provide concrete tools and resources, and create effective solutions that ultimately help our clients to achieve their goals.

Community-Based Organizations:
bullet What works in transitional planning for people getting out of jail or prison?
bullet How do we fund this project?
bullet How can we document the effectiveness of a project that we know works?
bullet We want to work with our local jail. Where do we start?

rule

Departments of Health and Human Services:
bullet How do we collect health status and program information from our local jails and prisons?
bullet How can we create strategic alliances in our jurisdiction between the health department, community social services and our local correctional setting?
bullet How do we identify and best serve children of incarcerated parents within our county social service system?

rule

Departments of Corrections or County Jails:
bullet Who is this community agency and what do they really want?
bullet Why would we want to provide these types of services?
bullet What kind of security clearance is needed for this project?
bullet How does this project help us with our mission?
bullet How can we make sure that this program does not compromise the safety and security of our facility?
bullet Can we logistically support this program and if so, how?

rule

Evaluators and Researchers:
bullet Does this work require an IRB?
bullet How do we successfully clear an IRB involving incarcerated participants?
bullet How do we ask participants about illegal behaviors while they are still incarcerated?
bullet What would be the best protocol and survey methodology to answer this research question?
bullet How do we creatively (and cost effectively) evaluate this complex intervention?
bullet Can we study the adaptation of an existing research protocol into a correctional setting?

rule

Funders:
bullet What do we need to consider if we want to fund programs for correctional settings?
bullet Do programs in correctional settings really work?
bullet How do we identify the best organization(s) for this funding initiative?
bullet How can we be sure that this organization has the capacity to be successful in a correctional setting?
bullet Is this proposal feasible?
bullet How can we best facilitate a working collaboration between our grantees and correctional agencies?

We've been there. We know how to make it work!
